How to Prevent Heat Stress (tips from Alert Media):
Change Work Schedules:Try to work during cooler times of the day, like early morning or late evening. If you must work in the heat, slowly get used to the temperature over a few days.
Provide Shade & Rest Breaks:Make sure there are shady or air-conditioned places where workers can take breaks and cool down. Direct sunlight can make it much hotter, so check the actual temperature and give regular breaks
Ensure Hydration:Dehydration is a big risk in the heat. Provide plenty of cool water and make sure everyone drinks at least 8 ounces every 20 minutes. Keep water easy to reach in work and rest areas.
Provide Electrolytes:Help keep everyone hydrated by offering sports drinks or electrolyte ice pops. Electrolytes help muscles and the brain work properly, especially in the heat.
Use Cooling Clothes:Wear light, loose-fitting clothes that let the skin breathe. If heavy protective gear is needed, consider cooling vests or insulated clothes to help stay cool.
